Join us every Wednesday for an adventurous evening with @folk.lounge on the LA River to develop larger bodies of work through a year-long interdisciplinary program. Each session draws on cultures, archives, symbolism, and mythologies — building toward research, publishing, or production. Whether you are an artist deepening your practice or a professional expanding your cultural reach, grow your impact through meaning, structure, critique, and community.

MATERIALS

Starter materials are provided for first timers to help you get going. Students bring their own materials to each session. We recommend just a few key things to get started. Select materials are provided when we introduce new techniques. For members, learning materials will be provided digitally via Discord & member website.

INSTRUCTOR

Shagho is a multidisciplinary design leader, artist, and cultural practitioner who works at the frontiers of innovation and community. She is also a founder of Folk Lounge, hosting Embroidery Socials around LA.

"Every stitch carries a whisper from the past, a light from the future. I created this series to connect generations through shared spaces where we can learn, create, and celebrate together. With roots in Armenian and Russian culture, I’m drawn to the language of ornament—and when I started embroidery, I knew it would be far more joyful as a collective experience." — Shagho, Founder

We recommend pointing directions software, driving and parking by La Colombe Coffee to walk along the river to reach the Blake Lofts. We enter and exit the facility via the LA River Bike Path entrance using the ADA ramp. No access or traverse is allowed through the Blake Lofts residential courtyard by the facilities agreement. Thank you for understanding. PS. Lost, need help getting there or need to enter from the front entrance due to mobility issues, call or text (503) 740-6722.

SPACE

Frogtown Arts is a nonprofit rooted in Elysian Valley, along the Los Angeles River — one of the few places in LA where art, community, and place-making have been quietly inseparable for nearly two decades. Through festivals, free classes, film, and year-round programming, they hold space for artists and neighbors alike.
