Join us for a playful afternoon with Folk Lounge to learn about form, patterns, surface design, rhythm, local history, inspired nature and informed by ornamental traditions around the world. Using scissors and paper, participants will explore how to generate beautiful ideas by cutting and prototyping, finding new directions for creative work and pleasure in the process.

Friends of the LA River works at the intersection of ecology, advocacy, and civic imagination. Founded in 1986 by poet and activist Lewis MacAdams, the organization exists to protect and restore the natural and historic heritage of the LA River — with programs ranging from the annual Great LA River CleanUp to paid youth fellowships preparing the next generation for careers in environmental stewardship.
